Family background

Alfred McCann was married to Hannah; they appear to have had possibly eight children, at least five of which predeceased them. In 1884 they lived in Phillip Street, Enmore. In 1889 they were living at Bankfield House, Newman Street, Macdonaldtown (Erskineville); in 1906 at Norfolk Street, Liverpool. In 1907; in 1927 at No. 1 Oxford Flats, Palmer Street, Darlinghurst; in 1939 at 26 Denham Street, Darlinghurst. He died in February 1939.

Local government service

Alfred McCann was elected to Newtown Council on 19 November 1892. He was an alderman on Newtown Council in 1892-97, representing Camden Ward.
