Local government service

Alexander Coutts was an alderman on Camperdown Council from 1906-07. He represented the East Kingston Ward during his time on the council. Camperdown Council attracted strong criticism in 1906 during Coutts’ time as alderman; it had more pot-holes and a bigger debt than similar boroughs, and a bailiff was ensconced in its insolvent town hall.
